Alberta Health Services' Walter C Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre (WCMHSC) is one of Canada's most advanced and comprehensive healthcare facilities. Built in the mid 1980's, it contains the University of Alberta Hospital, Stollery Children's Hospital, and the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. In 1999, Cygnus was engaged by Alberta Health Services (then Capital Health) to develop a standardized wayfinding and signage program for the site. Cygnus managed the implementation of the program in both the University of Alberta Hospital and the Stollery Children's Hospital. The scope also included the design, development and roll out of child-friendly goal ID / thematic displays in Stollery. In 2007, with the new addition of the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, Cygnus was commissioned to update and extend the standardized program into the new spaces and to develop donor recognition signage displays. Cygnus continues to provide dedicated program management for the entire WCMHSC site.
