In 2005, MacEwan began construction on the new 27,000 square foot Robbins Health Learning Centre, which would house over 2,000 nursing students and more than 300 staff. Cygnus was selected as the successful wayfinding consultant and was tasked with the design, development and implementation of a new wayfinding program for the Centre, which opened on schedule in 2007. As part of the planning process, the Cygnus team considered not only the requirements of the immediate facility but also approached the planning and design with a view to the extension of the wayfinding design throughout the entire campus in phase two. Cygnus’ goal was to create a unified and adaptable wayfinding program for the entire campus that responded to the significant growth and ongoing changes on campus. The process has been collaborative in nature, involving MacEwan’s facilities, marketing and foundation personnel. Cygnus continues to serve MacEwan as their wayfinding partner, providing ongoing program management and addressing new projects as they come online.
