The Children’s Cottage Society is a non profit charity that offers a range of crisis, respite and support services through the generous donations from a special group of patrons. Cygnus was asked to design a special donor recognition display that reflected the spirit of the Children’s Cottage. Taking queues from the nursery spaces, we built upon the themes of positivity, and playfulness, developing several concepts presented in the style of a children’s storybook. The concepts were engaging, cheerful and non-traditional. The CCS chose to proceed with the Train Set concept we developed, in which hand made wooden cars—crafted by a local artisan—serve as carriers for small donor plaques. The display is expandable, allowing for the addition of new tracks and cars, while “passenger list” plaques on either side recognize past donors.
