As a long time resident of Edmonton, Alberta, James Gaydos has been working in the industry for almost 15 years. Graduating in Business Administration with a diploma in Finance from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, James furthered his education in the marketing program. Since starting with Cygnus Group in 2000 as a junior representative, he has familiarized himself with all aspects of the business. The General Manager for the Edmonton office, James overseas many projects and is the central point of contact in keeping projects on schedule and budget. Recent projects include: AHS Robbins Pavilion, Synergy Wellness Centre, Art Gallery of Alberta, and University of Alberta where James continues to support many initiatives.
Paige Alexander is a graduate of Grant MacEwan University, Design Digital Media Program. Paige joined Cygnus Group in 2000, and brings eleven years of experience in the design field specializing in visual identity and print-based graphics. She has worked on many high profile signage projects in the Edmonton area, and has a long history of serving organizations such as Alberta Health Services, Royal Alexander Hospital, and the Stollery Children’s Hospital Donor program.
Kayla Brenton graduated with a Diploma in Graphic Design from the College of the North Atlantic in 2006. Earlier that year, Kayla worked at FastSigns as the head graphic designer. Here she gained valuable experience in the signage industry. Moving from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Edmonton, Alberta, Kayla joined Cygnus Group in 2008. At Cygnus Group she is a Project Manager overseeing projects such as the Fort McMurray Public Library, Alberta Teachers Association’s Seymour Tower, The Balwin Villa, and St. Joseph’s Seminary. Kayla has been in the industry for 5 years, but has been an artist and designer of all mediums for over 15 years. She continues to gain valuable knowledge and experience with each and every project she leads for Cygnus Group.
Luis Durazo grew up and studied in northwest Mexico, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in 2010. Luis worked for 4 years at an architecture firm as an intermediate architect, collaborating and coordinating the program and architectural design for multiple projects ranging from single-family houses to large-scale condominium complexes. In 2010 he moved to Canada and joined Cygnus Group as a Project Designer. Luis is currently working on the programming and design of several projects in Edmonton, applying his experience in space analysis and architectural software to sign documentation, project visualization and wayfinding planning.
Evelyn Gavinchuk joined the Cygnus team as a Project Manager for the Edmonton office in 2011, bringing with her six years of combined experience in graphic design and production design management. Evelyn's background in the signage industry and her enthusiasm for information design, allows her to create well considered, functional signage solutions combined with innovative aesthetic design. Evelyn is a graduate of the MacEwan University Design Studies program.
Michelle Parcels is a graduate of the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, where she obtained a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications. After working in print-based graphic design, she joined the Cygnus Group Edmonton office in 2005. Acting as Client Services Manager, Michelle responds efficiently to the needs of our clients, while attending to the administration of office and project requirements. She has been responsible for the strategic planning and design of numerous large-scale projects such as the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, and the Edmonton Clinic joint venture for the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services.
Jaime Salt was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. Jamie attended Grant MacEwan University, receiving a Bachelors of Arts degree with a major in Psychology and minor is Sociology in 2011. She also attended the Design Foundations Certificate program there as well. Jamie joined Cygnus Group in May 2011 where she is an Administrative Assistant providing much needed support on a diverse range of projects. Outside of her work at Cygnus, Jaime enjoys participating in various charity initiatives in the Edmonton area including many charity races.
Alexandra Toh graduated with a Degree in Communication Design from Emily Carr University of Art & Design. She is also an alumni member from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology's Graphic Sign Arts program and Keyano College's Visual Art program. She joined Cygnus Group as a project manager in the fall of 2007, bringing ten years of visual communication design experience. Alexandra has designed and managed many projects for Cygnus Group including: Grant MacEwan University, University of Alberta, and Keyano College. She is currently working with Grant MacEwan University to ensure that their visual identity and sustainable design strategies are implemented throughout the campus.
