Greg Orser is the General Manager for Cygnus Calgary, and has been working in the wayfinding and signage industry for over 30 years.  His long tenure at Cygnus has allowed him to foster many long-term relationships with some of Calgary's most respected organizations.  Greg prides himself on his hands-on approach to business, and is known for his dedication to client satisfaction and project completion. His irreplaceable knowledge and team leadership qualities have enabled him to successfully lead his team to the successful completion of countless projects in Calgary.

Reza Bacchus graduated in 2000 from the department of Industrial Design at the University of Alberta. Originally from Edmonton, he continued his education with training in 3D modeling; graphic and web design; and photography. In 2004, Reza relocated to Calgary with IKEA in his position in the Interior Design and Communications department. In Calgary he pursued an opportunity in the signage industry at the head of Sunshine Village’s sign shop. Reza joined Cygnus in 2010 as a Project Manager. His early studies, diverse work experience and methodical approach all contribute to his success with Cygnus.

Originally from Newfoundland, Wendy Briggs has called Calgary home since 2000. She holds a diploma in Office Administration and Computer Studies.  Since joining Cygnus in 2007, Wendy has excelled in her role providing client support services. She plays a key function in supporting Project Managers and ensures that day-to-day needs of clients are met. Wendy is a devoted dog lover and has a playful Basset Hound named Hunter. She also volunteers for the Calgary Basset Rescue Foundation.

Dave Chapman graduated from Humber College’s School of Applied Arts and Technology in 2002 with a degree in Industrial Design. After graduation, Dave began designing wayfinding signage for shopping centres and office buildings. In 2005 he moved to Calgary where he worked on the design of exhibit systems as well as managing their production and installation at shows throughout North America.  Dave joined the Cygnus team in 2011 as a Project Manager. Among some of his projects at Cygnus are the Calgary Board of Education and Ralph Klein Park.

Kevin Cortez is a graduate of the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD) where he obtained a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design in 2009. Before joining Cygnus in January 2011, Kevin worked as a freelance graphic designer involved in web, motion and print design. As a project graphic designer for Cygnus, Kevin is currently working on several of our projects including graphics development, detailing and documentation for the Bow, Eighth Avenue Place, and the Alberta Legislature. Out of the office, he is actively involved in his community church, working on a Filipino community newspaper with Mabuhay Calgary and is a Chinese lion dancer with World Pak Mei Hup Ging Do Martial Arts. 

Katherine Deheer obtained her degree in Business Administration from Concordia University in Montreal in 1989.  She worked with KLM—The Royal Dutch Airlines—in both Montreal and New York as Account Specialist, Office Manager and then Assistant to the Controller. In 1997 she moved to Calgary with her husband and shortly thereafter joined the Cygnus team as Financial Controller. Katherine is multilingual, speaking fluent English, French and Dutch.

Gerry Jackson joined Cygnus in 2010 as a senior architectural technologist and manager. Gerry received his Architectural Technology diploma in 1986 and his Building Development Technology diploma in 1992 from SAIT Polytechnic. From 1987 to 1999, he worked at Lethbridge College as the designer draftsperson in the Physical Facilities department and also served with the Lethbridge College Board of Governors from 1996 - 1997. He accepted a position of design coordinator with the Calgary Zoo from 2000-2007, during the Zoo’s most active capital renewal in its 75 years. He was promoted to design specialist from 2007 to 2010. His work on several development projects including interpretive installations helped gain the Zoo recognition within the Association of Zoos & Aquariums.

Brenda Lennon is a senior account manager with Cygnus. She specializes in the design and management of large scale projects and accounts. Brenda has over 15 years of design experience in web based, print and environmental spaces. She is a graduate from the University of Windsor, with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art and a diploma in computer animation.

Matt began his career as an art director for Preston Stuart Communications doing everything from corporate branding to radio commercials. His experience with PCS led him to work in print design and corporate communications for EnCana and TransCanada Pipelines. Matt’s interest in environmental graphic design has brought him to Cygnus, where his experience and skill have been applied to several corporate and institutional wayfinding programs as a member of our Calgary studio. He has managed and implemented wayfinding systems for all of Calgary’s hospitals, most recently the new McCaig Tower expansion of the Foothills Medical Centre. His current projects include a history wall and exhibit in WestJet Airlines’ corporate headquarters. Matt studied at the Alberta College of Art & Design, graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor of Graphic Design degree.

In 2006 Kate Scott moved back to her hometown of Calgary after completing her education in Applied Communications at the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island, BC. Shortly thereafter she joined Cygnus and has served in a variety of capacities leading to her present role as Business Manager for Calgary. Kate works alongside the General Manager and Project Managers to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. Prior to her present role, Kate acted as a Project Manager on a variety of initiatives including the Penn West East Tower, Quarry Park and the North Campus of Bow Valley College.

As a senior designer with Cygnus with over 16 years of experience, Lindsay has worked with some of Canada’s leading public and private institutions, designing and directing the implementation of wayfinding and environmental graphics programs. His experience has led him to the position that adaptability, affordability and sustainability of systems need to be considered as acutely as the aesthetics and content during the design process. Lindsay is particularly interested in how dynamic content and new technology can be used to help people understand and interact with their surroundings. As such, he has led Cygnus’ recent initiatives related to digital signage, interactive applications and mobile computing. Lindsay is a graduate of the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Fine Art and a member of the Society of Environmental Graphic Designers. His clients include the Banff Centre, Alberta Health Services, University of Calgary, University of Alberta, MacEwan University, Ryerson University, Trillium Health Centre and Telus. 

Daniel Wilcox is a born and raised Calgarian.  He studied Digital Graphics Communications at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) where he received his honours diploma in 2004.  He has worked in the graphics and printing industry since he graduated, where he excelled in the roles of production coordinator and graphic designer, overseeing the print layouts of many local magazines and newspapers. Dan joined Cygnus in July of 2009, as a Graphics Specialist.  He was later promoted to the role of Account Manager, where he has used his understanding of graphic design to find creative solutions for his clients such as Shell, Suncor, and Telus. Outside of his role with Cygnus, Dan enjoys spending time coaching local minor league soccer teams.
