Campuses can be highly complex places, not unlike small cities. Wayfinding must respond to the needs of a wide range of end users and help to communicate the function and use of zones and spaces. It assists both with the process of navigation and in helping to create a sense of place.
Ryerson University was founded in 1948 in Toronto’s downtown core. It is a distinctly urban university that offers close to 100 PhD, masters and undergraduate programs. Approximately 28,000 undergraduate and graduate students, including almost 2,000 master’s and PhD students attend Ryerson. The student body is one of the most culturally diverse in Canada, representing approximately 146 countries around the world.
Cygnus has successfully developed and incorporated interactive screens, donor recognition signs, and an online catalogue and order entry system. Cygnus maintains a strong ethic and we’re pleased with their creative input and initiative in helping to manage the university’s signage program.
